Jim Campagnola
Jim Campagnola is Hari's cousin. He is an expert live and studio session musician who has played with many well known stars. A few of the tracks listed here are from the CD 'Dig This' from the group 'Dig' featuring Jim, Tony Beard, Chris Palmaro, Jeff Miranov, Kenny Kirkland, Bakithi Kumalo, John Caban, Mark Egan and Bette Sussman. His web site is www.caljames.com where he demonstrates the extraordinary capacity of his very famous musical group that has played at the Kennedy weddings, the UN, and many important venues.
This photo of him playing bass is from a Jimmy Hendricks group he was in at the end of 2005, called Acid Reign (see the Video Gallery!). They played for fun at the Bitter End and many top clubs in Manhattan. Actually, this talented person is a sax player, a drummer, a pianist, a bass player, a guitar player and producer. The Live at Artie's Warehouse tracks were recorded in 1990 off the board and therefore are not of great quality since the drums and bass are more heard directly while the sax needed more amplification. The group, called the 'James Campagnola Quintet,' included Chris Palmaro on keyboards, Buddy Williams on drums, Tom Barney on bass, Frank Colon on percussion, and of course, Jim on sax. 'No Bricks' is a Christmas jam with Jim playing the bass and rhythm guitar with Robert (Hari) playing lead guitar, keyboard and babble. The last series of songs are from his 1987 group, 'Big Dog.'
