Interesting fellows this Matthew and Mark personalities. It turns out their quotes are the core or the root of many sayings, proverbs and rules of life, not only in Christian homes. Some moments differ slightly between the two, and of course they are all here taken out of the context. But that is how I found them, and even I may not really agree with (all of) them I found them many rather familliar.

See it for yourself, if you recognize any. It made me think a bit about all the things we grow use to and don´t question really the origin of it. I am not having intention of propagating or discrediting The Bible and its theachings, just sharing some taughts.

"If you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?"

-Matthew 5:47

"When you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

-Matthew 6:2-4

"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

-Matthew 6:31-33

"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

-Matthew 6:34

"While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, 'Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?' On hearing this, Jesus said, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.'"

-Matthew 9:10-12

"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven."

-Mathew 10:32-33

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

-Matthew 10:34

"Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand."

-Matthew 12:25

"What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'"

-Matthew 15:11

"If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

-Matthew 15:14

"What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost."

-Matthew 18:12-14

"'Haven't you read,' he replied, 'that at the beginning the Creator "made them male and female," and said, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh"? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.'"

-Matthew 19:4-6

"[Jesus said] 'Show me the coin used for paying the tax.' They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, 'Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?' 'Caesar's,' they replied. Then he said to them, 'Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.'"

-Matthew 22:19-21

-Matthew 26:41

"All who draw the sword will die by the sword."

-Matthew 26:52

"He went on: 'What comes out of a man is what makes him "unclean." For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man "unclean."'"

But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
