Left, a woman walks on the Parikrama-road around Vrindavana. Right, the Madan Mohan Temple in Vrindavan. Madan mohan means “one who can even enchant Cupid.” The Deity of Madan-mohan (formerly Madan-Gopal) was made for Krishna's great grandson Vajranabha and was for many years lost until the deity was rediscovered."

"Advaita Acarya discovered the original deity of Madan-mohan (Krishna) in Mahavan-Gokul and served Him here at the base of an old "vat" tree. Before his departure for Navadvip Advaita Acarya entrusted the deity to a brahmana cauled Chaubhe in Mathura. A few years later Caitanya Mahaprabhu sent Sanatana Goswami to Vrindavan to discover the lost places of Krishna's pastimes and write books about Krishna bhakti." Full Images: 1 / 2 /3 / 4

Jouralists are interviewing at the opening of the Khalifa tower its owner Mohammed Alabbar of Emaar Properties. The great view surprises even sheikhs. A ticket to the observation deck costs 100 dirhams (around 19 euros). Children up to twelve years are charged 75 dirhams (14 euros). Those who do not buy the tickets in advance will have to pay the equivalent of 40 euros. Above: On the 124th floor there is a viewing platform. From here one can look at the entire city of Dubai. The tickets for the floor called "At The Top" of the record building structure can be bought in advance on the web site: http://www.burjdubai.com

"At the Top": Breathtaking view from the observation deck in the 124th Floor of the Burj Khalifa. At so much foresight also the Sheikh is amazed. Incidentally, the glass allows only one third of the sunlight. Therefore there are very much reflections. The entrance to the 124th floor costs the equivalent of 20 euros. Two minutes looking through the binoculars about two euros.

For that amount of money visitors can see from the observation deck the surily longest shadow of buildings in the world. It extends almost to the beach. In good weather, the view stretches almost 100 kilometers away. Dubai is known for its often hazy sky.

The adventurous sight of the window cleaners at work who need 4 month to clean all the windows of the tower. Silvery glittery façade of the Burj Khalifa (828m) in the sky of Dubai. The stainless steel came from the Thyssen-Krupp plant in Krefeld, Germany - 400 tons were delivered to the Emirate.• More Photos

Now that the oil well is capped...
August 18, 2010
Between April 20 and July 15, 2010, a generally accepted estimate of nearly 5 million barrels (200 million gallons) of crude oil emerged from the wellhead drilled into the seafloor by BP from the now-destroyed Deepwater Horizon drilling rig. Now that the flow of oil has been stopped, the impact of all the spilled oil and natural gas is still being measured. The current moratorium on deep water remains in place as reports from varying scientific groups are at odds about the extent of the remaining oil, and some fishing restrictions have already been lifted. As BP finalizes its work in killing the well, here is a collection of photos from around the Gulf of Mexico over the past couple of months, as all of those affected enter the next phase of this event. (42 photos total) / 2

- An oil sheen and clumps of oil are seen in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana on July 26, 2010. (Derick E. Hingle/Bloomberg)
- U.S. President Barack Obama and his daughter Sasha swim at Alligator Point in Panama City Beach, Florida, 14.8.2010. Declaring Gulf Coast beaches "open for business."
